The Chick-A-Licious Sandwich

The Chick-A-Licious Sandwich

This sandwich can be purchased from Angels Food Market or Sierra Hills Market in Calaveras County.

This panini sandwich is describe as sliced chicken with pepper jack cheese, peppercinis, tomatoes, red onion, bacon and mayonnaise served on sourdough bread.

Let's start with the name. Really.... Chick-A-Licious was the best they could come up with? Maybe they were trying to do a play on words by using the licious of delicious. The problem is the name is still horrible and I would not describe the sandwich as delicious.

Next we will move onto the ingredients. The sourdough bread does not hold up for the panini preparation, it becomes a soggy mess. There is nothing special about the chicken, everyone loves bacon and thank goodness this sandwich has it. The pepper-jack cheese seems very mild, I even opened the sandwich just to make sure is was pepper-jack, and sure enough there was specks of peppers, but honestly no flavor. The peppercinis and red onion give a good crisp bite throughout sandwich. Tomato is blah, they are not in season and bring nothing but mush to your bite.

The flavor mostly comes from the peppercinis and red onion with a background flavor of bacon. This sandwich has potential if they change the name, change the bread, and add another element of flavor that is currently lacking.

The Chick-A-Licious is a Chick-A-Pass. Choose a different sandwich or have one made to order.
